Blair and the Big Blue World

The running list of things that I miss about my life pre-quarantine is incredibly long. It includes the raw cookies from my school cafeteria, being in large crowds of people and eavesdropping on their conversations and, the movie theater. God, do I miss the movie theater. I miss freaking out over pre ordering tickets hours before the show, I miss bleeding out $20 bills at the concession stand, I miss talking too loudly during the movie and the chipper conversation that always happens after it. I can't wait to walk down my theater's aisle again. It was this longing feeling that lead me to create a 34 second itty-bitty edit of all of my favorite movies. E-N-J-O-Y !

I understand that these days New York City isn't the best place to be. With Covid-19 still running through the streets and travel being highly discouraged there's no way that I'm making my merry way to The Big Apple anytime soon. But a girl can dream, and I intend to. 11am Okay so my plan is to arrive in Manhattan at 11 o'clock in the morning---by train. Disclaimer: I do not know if there is a train that goes from Mil*aukee to New York. Like I'm 99% sure that there isn't one , but this is my dream! So I'm taking it. Once I stand in the station for 3-5 minutes, taking the bustle of the city in in all of its glory, I'll power walk out of the door and start my day. 12pm  Once I leave the station I'll head east towards Nolita to eat at the Freemans restaurant for brunch. I've known (and loved) Amy K for the past 5 years. She is sharp, she is silly, and she is so talented that her back still hurts from carrying HHS' string orchestra even though that was two years ago. Corinne Bailey Rae has existed in my universe for as long as I can remember. My parents were music snobs back in the day and only allowed me and my sisters to listen to what they listened to in a  (successful) attempt to make sure that we all picked up their taste. Growing up I heard a lot of Prince, a lot of Sade, a lot of Billie Holiday, and a lot of Stevie Wonder. And while all of those artists have a special place in my heart none of them have stuck with me the way that Corinne Bailey Rae has.  Corinne Bailey Rae's self-titled debut album came out in 2006 when I was 2 years old. My family was still a family of four, we hadn't moved to the suburbs yet, and my father still had all of his hair. Things were different. Back in the olden days (read: 2015) I decided to start a small business where I would sell handmade paper envelopes to my classmates in exchange for...wait for it...STICKY NOTES. After a couple of short weeks the Principal shut us down (because a paper envelope company was  so serious) but my lackluster skill for creating paper envelope remains intact. So enjoy this video!

Stripes are the unofficial Virgo pattern. Think about it. Stripes are organized, they're consistent, and they straddle the line between being interesting and obnoxious. If that doesn't scream Virgo I don't know that does! Anybody who knows me knows that I am a sucker for a good striped top. I have a Gap multi-colored striped sweater that I bought 4 years ago that I still wear to this day. Not because it is even remotely stylish---because it is FAR from that, but because it's just one of those items of clothing that makes me feel... good. Wanna know a secret?  I want to be a filmmaker. It's funny how easy confessions can be online when you can't see people's reactions in real-time. You only see the filtered versions that they showcase in their replies. Some of the authenticity is lost, but then again so are some of the risks. And this confession feels...risky. I know that we're just getting to know each other here but an important thing that you should know about me is that I'm not a girl who takes a lot of risks. I'm adventurous and fun-loving, but I'm intentional with how I venture out and purposeful with the things that I love.
